About Jackie

Jackie Kittel Jackie Kittel is dedicated to teaching yoga with awareness, integrity and compassion. She began practicing yoga in 1990 and teaching in 1994. She is an Iyengar certified yoga instructor.

Jackie graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in occupational therapy. She combines her yoga training with knowledge gained from 12 years of experience as an occupational therapist working to rehabilitate people of all ages and abilities.

She is a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance.

Jackie participated as the yoga instructor in a research study coordinated by Washington State University-Spokane to determine the effects of yoga on breast cancer survivors. She co-authored the results of the study, which were published in the 2005 International Journal of Yoga Therapy. In collaboration with WSU-Spokane, Jackie has been the recipient of a Susan G. Komen grant for 3 years to provide free yoga classes to women recovering from breast cancer treatment. She presented a session on Iyengar yoga for breast cancer at the Northwest Sports Medicine Conference, and continues her collaboration with WSU-Spokane in researching the effects of yoga on women treated for breast cancer.
